Bells & Whistles

I am soooo excited to finally be able to share this. I'm in this month's Bells & Whistles section of Plansponsor with a whole mess of illustrators that I admire. This thing led to a bunch of other things I don't think I'm supposed to talk about yet, but I really want to talk about, so I will just hint at them here. Ships are Launching

Here's one inspired by a song lyric from a good band called Radical Face. The song is "Welcome Home, Son". I had lots of fun drawing those organs or whatever they are...

Girls

"Girls" on HBO is one of my favorite shows at the moment, probably because I'm a twenty-something Girl who has no idea where her life is going. I also think Lena Dunham, the writer/director/star of the show, is one classy broad (look her up on youtube for inspirational interviews if you've been living in a hole). I had the idea to create classic Renaissance portraits of the characters, yet put them in an obnoxious color scheme to get across the modern themes of the show. The series is set in New York City, which is why I put a Chicago landscape in the background. 

That last bit was a joke. Girls can make jokes too.

Hey, thanks!

Haven't posted in a while--been on vacation and such. It just occurred to me recently that I don't ever have to go to school again, which feels weird. I created this thank you card to help me get back into the swing of things, and to thank people for nice things they did for young, broke, recently graduated me. So thanks nice people!
